May 07: Dorothy sits down by the road near a Scarecrow.
May 10: Suddenly, the Scarecrow smiles at her.
May 11: ‘Can a Scarecrow smile and speak?’ she thinks.
May 12: ‘Of course I can smile and speak,’ says the Scarecrow.
Nov 11: ‘I’m going to the Emerald City,’ says Dorothy.
Nov 12: ‘He can help me go back home to Kansas,’ she says.
Nov 13: ‘I want a brain,’ says the Scarecrow.
Nov 14: ‘Can the Wizard of Oz give me a brain?’ he says.
Nov 15: ‘You can come with us and ask him,’ says Dorothy.
